My current life is divided between living in Waterloo, New York and San Francisco. I grew up in Canada and studied at UWaterloo.

Things I'm involved with and areas of interest:
- Quantitative infrastructure. D.E. Shaw & Co. is one of the world's foremost quantitative investment firms; I work at the intersection of distributed systems and financial infrastructure in New York.
- Cloud infrastructure. At Amazon Web Services, I built low-latency onboarding platforms and vector search indexing for LLM log triage.
- Data infrastructure & forward-deployed engineering. At Palantir Technologies, I built Rust micro-VM file systems using AWS Firecracker and implemented distributed telemetry pipelines.
- Media logistics. At Signiant, I engineered high-throughput file transfer protocols in C++ and containerized network services in Kubernetes.
- Machine learning research. At the Critical ML Lab, I worked on refusal direction optimization and vector space disentanglement in large language models. At PMEAL Labs, I trained GNN diffusion kernels on porous-media datasets.
- Distributed systems. Consensus, container orchestration, fault tolerance, and low-latency infrastructure.
- Philosophy & writing. I write about things I find interesting, and tend to find most things interesting to write about. See Writings and Reading Library.
- Music. I play the drums and the violin.
